The neighborhood itself
22 verified places · 1 eat & drink and 14 things-to-do listsCoronado is the postcard — the 1888 Hotel del, a wide white beach, Orange Avenue running like a small-town main street — layered over a working Navy town where jets rattle the palms. The right way in is the $9 ferry from Broadway Pier and a rented cruiser; the island is flat, slow, and built for two wheels. One honest note: check the county's water-quality page before you swim — the Tijuana plume reaches this far north more summers than anyone likes to admit.

Getting there: ferry from Broadway Pier, $9 each way, 15 min — beats bridge traffic home
Water: advisory posted at city beaches (July); Silver Strand State Beach still closed — check the county's Beach & Bay page first
Parking: free but scarce near the beach — rent a bike and skip the hunt

The index
Ranked places pulled from all 15 listsThe sand runs so far back from the waterline that a crowded Saturday still leaves you a lane of your own, and nothing is built between the beach and the western horizon.
You can spend a good hour here without booking anything.
