Get your place considered.
Tell us about a San Diego business and it goes into our research queue. To be direct about it: this is a lead for our researchers, not a purchase, and it buys nothing. A place earns a spot on a The San Diego List ranking or it does not appear.
What happens next
- 01 — It becomes a research lead
Submissions go into our work queue as candidates. They are not published, and being submitted does not put you on a list.
- 02 — It gets researched like everything else
If the list you fit is in production, you enter the candidate pool with everyone else. We check the exact Google and Yelp listings directly, read what recent customers actually say, and confirm you are currently open.
- 03 — It ranks on the evidence, or it does not appear
We deep-review far more candidates than any list publishes. Most do not make it, and a submission that does not clear the bar simply stays in the pool for next time.
The submissions that go furthest are specific.
“Great food, family owned” tells a researcher nothing. “We make the tortillas by hand every morning and the adobada is on the spit by six” tells them exactly what to check and what to order. Send the exact address of the specific location — branches are separate identities to us, and a submission for a brand rather than an address cannot be verified. See the editorial standards for what we check and how.
