The Davis-Horton House lets you hold an EMF meter inside one of downtown San Diego's earliest surviving buildings. The prefabricated frame came from Maine in 1850, one of twelve shipped by William Heath Davis. The Cosmopolitan carries one of Old Town's best transformation stories. A later three-year restoration supervised by the state returned the building to that period. The Star of India's official ship history needs no embellishment. The Maritime Museum says the vessel launched in 1863 at Ramsey Shipyard on the Isle of Man under the name Euterpe and later sailed around the world 21 times. It also records two near-disastrous early voyages to India and says the first captain died aboard and was buried at sea after a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. That record gives the ship extraordinary weight without claiming a haunting as fact. The museum lists Haunted Star Tales as included with general admission when offered, but the 2026 dates remain TBD. Plan around the permanent maritime history, check the current ship access and admission directly, and treat any haunted program as a bonus only after dates are published.
