The Miramar Reservoir Loop
Miramar Reservoir gives you a five-mile paved loop with only 78 feet of elevation gain, a wonderfully clear plan for anyone who wants distance without a punishing climb. The City opens the reservoir from sunrise to sunset, with a monthly maintenance closure to remember. The paved shoreline gives walkers and cyclists a clear route, while fishing permits cost $10 for adults ages 16 to 65, $7 for seniors, and $5 for youth ages 8 to 15; payment is cash or check. Keep the rules close: dogs must be leashed and remain 50 feet from the water, and bicycles are limited to 10 mph. The boat-launch maintenance window currently runs from July 17 through August 21, 2026. Even while the ramp is closed, that easy blue-water loop is a beautiful way to claim a long San Diego morning.
