WEEKEND

9 Places Worth Your Time in Miramar

Nine Miramar stops for a brilliant San Diego day: brewery rituals, distillery classes, quiet spa time, Indian groceries, coffee, and jets overhead.

9 rankedUpdated Aug 2, 2026 Verified Aug 2, 2026By The San Diego List

The short answer

Start a Miramar day at AleSmith for .394, Speedway Stout, daily food trucks, and a tasting room where leashed dogs are welcome inside and on the patio. Add Cutwater, Jaunt Coffee, Miramar Cash & Carry, or the September air show to build a full itinerary.

NeighborhoodsMiramar

Miramar rewards curiosity. One turn leads to a two-story tasting room; another takes you into a distillery class, a quiet spa suite, an Indian grocery run, a coffee roastery, or a brewery created to make yeast fermentation easier to understand.

Drive between stops and give the day a clear order. Jaunt opens early enough to handle breakfast. Miramar Cash & Carry turns the middle of the day into a pantry adventure. Forest House can slow everything down, while AleSmith, Cutwater, Pure Project, White Labs, and Duck Foot each give the afternoon a different personality.

The huge exception is September 25–27, when America's Airshow opens MCAS Miramar for free performances and parking. On those days, the Blue Angels' 2:45 PM slot becomes the clock the entire neighborhood follows.

Use a designated driver when tastings are involved, and keep going with the San Diego brewery guide, the distillery ranking, the international markets guide, and North County Inland.

Our pick

AleSmith Brewing

MIRAMARTWO-STORY TASTING ROOMTRUCK DAILY

AleSmith makes Miramar feel like the place your entire group was trying to find. Speedway Stout and .394 are the beers to start with, and the two-story tasting room gives everyone room to settle in rather than hovering through a quick round. A different food truck serves on site each day, but outside food is welcome too, so the table never has to agree on one kitchen. Leashed dogs can join the group on the patio or inside when someone 21 or older handles them, and board games wait behind the bar for the friend who always wants an activity. The tasting room starts service daily at 11 AM; Friday and Saturday stretch to 11 PM. Check the truck, choose your beer, and let the afternoon grow naturally. AleSmith is the Miramar stop that makes everybody glad they came together.

The move
Let one flagship pour lead, then eat from the day's mobile kitchen.
Heads up
Dogs need a leash and an adult age 21 or older; food comes from rotating trucks or what you bring.
Mon–Thu 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; Fri–Sat 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; Sun 11 a.m.–9 p.m.

Cutwater Spirits

DISTRIBUTION AVEDISTILLERY + KITCHENTOURS

Cutwater turns a tasting stop into something you can actually build an afternoon around. The label makes whiskey, rum, vodka, gin, tequila, mezcal, and an herbal liqueur, so the spirits conversation can wander in almost any direction without leaving the same address. Book a distillery tour when you want to understand the making, or choose a cocktail class when doing sounds more fun than listening. The seasonal Tiki Tour Experience runs through August 31, and weekday happy hour lands from 3 to 6 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, while reservations run through OpenTable and are held for 15 minutes. Pick one experience instead of trying to stack everything, then give it your attention. Miramar gets much more exciting when the person pouring your drink can open a door into the story behind it.

The move
Choose the hands-on or behind-the-scenes session and give it the afternoon.
Heads up
Reservations are held 15 minutes; groups of 6 need a card, and groups of 8 receive 20% gratuity.
Mon–Thu 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Fri–Sat 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; Sun 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

Forest House SPA

MIRAMAR RDHEAD SPAPRIVATE PARKING

Forest House is the reset button hiding on Miramar Road. The menu begins with head-spa treatments and extends through deep-tissue massage, the Classica facial, body facials, chemical peels, Oxygen RX, waxing, lash extensions, and combination packages. Choose one focused service or turn the appointment into a longer escape with a package. The spa's quiet policy and refusal to sell products during the session protect the sense of actually being off duty; treatment oils begin with cold-pressed sweet almond and jojoba. Private parking removes one more bit of friction, and appointments run every day from 9 AM until 8 PM. Book the treatment your brain keeps asking for, silence the phone, and let Miramar surprise you by becoming the quietest part of the week.

The move
Put the phone away and choose the appointment that lets your nervous system exhale.
Heads up
Keep your voice down, and mention any sensitivity to the jojoba-and-sweet-almond oil blend before the service.

America's Airshow at MCAS Miramar

MCAS MIRAMARSEPT 25–27FREE
Verified Jul 30, 2026

For 3 days in September, Miramar turns the sky into the main stage. America's Airshow runs September 25–27, 2026, with gates opening at 8 AM and performances filling the day from 10 AM to 4:15 PM. The published lineup begins with an MV-22 Osprey demo, moves through the C-17 Globemaster III, F-35B, MAGTF, F-22 Raptor, and other performers, then brings the Blue Angels with Fat Albert into the 2:45 PM slot. General admission and parking are both free. Arrive early enough to clear entry, understand the grounds, and settle before the flying intensifies. This is the Miramar day that feels completely different from the rest of the year: huge machines, exact choreography, and an entire crowd looking up at once.

The move
Enter early, check the day's running order, and be settled before 2:45 PM.
Heads up
Adults need government-issued ID; consult the organizer's permitted and prohibited items list.

Pure Project Miramar

KENAMAR DRMOSS WALL16 TAPS
4.8 Google (653) Verified Jul 19, 2026

Pure Project makes group planning feel almost suspiciously easy. The Miramar room pours 16 taps, Empanada Kitchen serves on site, and food from neighboring restaurants is welcome. A semi-private outdoor setup gives a birthday, reunion, or sprawling friend group enough space to feel intentional without becoming formal. Children and dogs are welcome too, so fewer people have to opt out. If you want the simplest food move, 3 empanadas cost $13.25. Hours stretch to 10 PM Thursday through Saturday, with earlier 11 AM openings on the weekend. Gather the people who are hardest to coordinate, let everybody solve food in the way that suits them, and enjoy a Miramar stop designed around staying together. The best part is how little compromise the table has to make.

The move
Share 3 empanadas outside and let neighboring restaurants fill any gaps.
Heads up
Monday and Tuesday service begins at 3 PM; the outdoor area accommodates up to 30.
Cost for two: Empanadas $4.95 each or 3 for $13.25.Mon–Tue 3–9 p.m.; Wed 1–9 p.m.; Thu–Fri 1–10 p.m.; Sat 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; Sun 11 a.m.–8 p.m.

White Labs Brewing Co.

CANDIDA STYEAST LABTHU–SAT

White Labs was created in 2012 to show how yeast fermentation changes beer, which gives this tasting room a beautifully nerdy reason to exist. Come curious. The concept invites you to think about fermentation instead of treating the glass like another anonymous pour, and Friday Night Trivia adds a playful excuse to bring friends into the experiment. Children are welcome, Wi-Fi is free, and the brewery will fill any growler or a 32-ounce crowler to go. The catch is the narrow week: doors open only Thursday through Saturday, closing at 8 PM Thursday, 9 PM Friday, and 7 PM Saturday. Choose Friday when you want the room at its most animated, ask questions, and take a fill home. White Labs makes a Miramar beer stop feel like an idea you can taste.

The move
Make Friday Night Trivia the plan and leave with a crowler fill.
Heads up
Nothing runs Sunday through Wednesday; the longest evening ends at 9 PM Friday.
Thu noon–8 p.m.; Fri noon–9 p.m.; Sat noon–7 p.m.; closed Sun–Wed.

Miramar Cash & Carry

MIRAMAR RDLARGEST INDIAN GROCERDAILY

Miramar Cash & Carry is the stop that turns a neighborhood outing into a better-stocked kitchen. The operator describes it as San Diego's largest Indian grocery store, and the department list gives you plenty of reasons to arrive with an actual shopping plan: fruits and vegetables, dairy and eggs, pulses and lentils, rice and noodles, flours, meal kits, bakery goods, snacks, beverages, frozen food, pantry staples, household products, and more. Hunt down the ingredients that are hardest to find elsewhere, then leave room in the cart for discovery. The store opens daily from 10 AM to 9 PM, so it can anchor the morning or become the useful final stop before dinner. Miramar feels especially rewarding when the thing you bring home keeps the adventure going in your own kitchen.

The move
Begin with pulses, lentils, flours, rice, and frozen foods, then browse outward.
Heads up
Use 9262 Miramar Road for navigation; the operator, Apple Maps, and Waze agree on that storefront address.

Duck Foot Brewing Miramar

KENAMAR DRGLUTEN-REDUCEDARCADE

Duck Foot gives the beer-curious friend a very specific reason to come: every beer is brewed gluten-reduced. That single idea makes the taproom feel welcoming before anyone even reaches the bar. Rotating food trucks set up in the lot, while the monthly calendar moves through cooking classes, truck visits, and themed drink specials; comedy, bluegrass, and jazz nights have also been part of the mix. Check the event calendar first and choose a night with a little extra personality. The room opens at noon daily and closes at 10 PM on Friday and Saturday; the rewards program earns 1 point per $1 with $5 off at 100 points. Skip the purely transactional visit. Pair a pour with music, comedy, or a class and let Duck Foot turn a Miramar taproom night into a story.

The move
Match a gluten-reduced pour with the month's most interesting event night.
Heads up
Food comes from rotating trucks; check the day's vendor and event schedule before arriving.
Mon–Tue noon–8 p.m.; Wed–Thu noon–9 p.m.; Fri–Sat noon–10 p.m.; Sun noon–8 p.m.

Jaunt Coffee Roasters

MIRALANI DRROASTED ON SITEOPENS 6:30

Jaunt is how you start Miramar before the brewery doors even think about opening. The roastery and cafe sit in the Miralani Makers' District, serving from 6:30 AM Monday through Friday and 7 AM on weekends. Breakfast can be as light or committed as the day requires: acai comes with house-made granola, honey, coconut flakes, and fruit, while burritos, empanadas, smoothies, and pastries give hungrier mornings somewhere to go. The flavored latte menu includes lavender and black sesame, an easy excuse to order beyond your default. Come early, choose the drink that makes the drive feel like a treat, and use the table to plot the rest of Miramar. A neighborhood built around production deserves a coffee stop connected to a working roastery, and Jaunt gives the day that satisfying first spark.

The move
Begin the day with a sweet espresso drink and something filling.
Heads up
Sunday closes at 3 PM and weekdays at 4 PM; this is an early-day stop.
Sun 7 a.m.–3 p.m.; Mon–Fri 6:30 a.m.–4 p.m.; Sat 7 a.m.–6 p.m.

How we rank

Hours, prices, policies, and dates come from operator and organizer pages, including the breweries, distillery, roastery, spa, air show, and supermarket. Every rated place was checked on its own current Google or Yelp page, and eight businesses that once anchored this district were left off because they are no longer operating.

Hours, prices, policies, the 2026 air show dates, and direct platform records were checked from July 18 through July 31, 2026

Common questions

Where should a first-time Miramar outing begin?

Begin at AleSmith. The two-story tasting room opens at 11 AM daily, Speedway Stout and .394 are the signature beers, food trucks rotate every day, and leashed dogs may join an adult age 21 or older inside or on the patio.

Which AleSmith beers define the stop?

Start with Speedway Stout or .394. Check the day's food-truck schedule, or bring outside food; both are allowed. Board games behind the bar give a group an easy reason to stay.

Can Miramar support a full day out?

Yes. Start with coffee at Jaunt, shop Miramar Cash & Carry, reserve a treatment at Forest House, and choose among AleSmith, Cutwater, Pure Project, White Labs, or Duck Foot for the afternoon.

How should you get between Miramar stops?

These addresses are spread across Miramar Road, Distribution Avenue, Kenamar Drive, Candida Street, and the Miralani Makers' District. Drive between stops, and appoint a designated driver when brewery or distillery tastings are involved.

Which Miramar places welcome you on Monday?

Jaunt opens at 6:30 AM, Forest House at 9 AM, Miramar Cash & Carry at 10 AM, AleSmith and Cutwater at 11 AM, Duck Foot at noon, and Pure Project at 3 PM. White Labs is closed Monday.

What dates should you save for the 2026 Miramar Air Show?

Save September 25–27, 2026. Gates open at 8 AM, performances run from 10 AM to 4:15 PM, and the Blue Angels are scheduled at 2:45 PM. Admission and parking are free.

What should adults bring to America's Airshow?

Every attendee age 18 or older needs valid government-issued identification. Read the organizer's current permitted and prohibited items list before packing for the base.

What Miramar stop works without beer or spirits?

Book Forest House SPA for quiet treatment time, browse Miramar Cash & Carry's Indian grocery departments, or start early at Jaunt Coffee with acai, empanadas, pastries, and flavored lattes.
