SAN DIEGO BAY
Watch the Bay Parade of Lights
Decorated boats crossing the dark bay turn the whole waterfront into the occasion. The official 2026 schedule gives you two chances to catch the procession on two separate Sunday evenings, each beginning at 5:30 PM. Pick the one that fits your trip, settle on a bayfront viewing area before you leave, and arrive with enough margin to enjoy the build-up instead of watching the clock. The fact that it happens twice is a gift if weather or another holiday commitment disrupts the first date. A warm layer makes the wait after sunset easier, and an uncomplicated evening lets you settle in before the route begins. Then the first decorated boats cross dark water, and the whole bay becomes San Diego's version of a December night out.
The published start is 5:30 PM; choose the viewing area and transportation plan before leaving.
