Then choose your three extras from the San Diego Zoo or the Safari Park (one or the other, since they share a slot), the USS Midway Museum, the City Cruises Best of the Bay tour, Birch Aquarium at Scripps, Old Town Trolley Tours and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Here's how the math can look for one adult with SeaWorld at the center. A SeaWorld Any Day ticket ($99.99), a Zoo day ($78), Midway bought online ($39) and Birch Aquarium bought online ($34.95) add up to $251.94. The SeaWorld CityPASS is $169, plus a $2 processing fee per ticket. That's about $80 back per adult, roughly a third off. CityPASS advertises savings of up to 48 percent, and how close you get depends on which three extras you pick.

The clock is the friendly part. Your nine days start at your first attraction scan, so you can sort out tickets well before the trip and let the pass wait in your phone until you need it. SeaWorld, LEGOLAND and City Cruises all require reservations inside the pass, so lock in those dates as soon as you buy.

The San Diego 3-for-1 Pass is a combo ticket from the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld that covers three parks at once: one visit each to the Zoo in Balboa Park, the Safari Park in Escondido and SeaWorld San Diego, all inside seven consecutive days. If all three are already on your family's list, this is the most direct way to pay less for them.

The math is simple and strong. At $172 per adult, it undercuts the $255.99 you'd spend on the same three gates bought separately: two $78 park days plus a $99.99 SeaWorld ticket. That's $83.99 back per adult. The savings only show up if you actually walk through all three gates, so this is a pass for firm plans.

Two details catch families off guard. Adult pricing on this pass starts at age 10, younger than the cutoff on the parks' own day tickets, so a 10- or 11-year-old counts as an adult here. And the window is tight by design. SeaWorld's own Any Day ticket is good for any one day within six months of purchase, while the 3-for-1 asks for all three visits inside one week.

Three park days in seven is a full schedule, so start the clock on the park your crew is most excited about and slide a beach or pool day between the other two. It ranks just behind CityPASS on flexibility. Both save real money, and CityPASS lets you swap in Midway or a harbor cruise, while the 3-for-1 locks in three specific parks. When those three parks are exactly the plan, it's a great buy.

Balboa Park's museums could easily fill a week, and the Balboa Park Explorer Parkwide Pass gives you exactly that: seven consecutive days of entry to 16 participating museums for $78 per adult and $52 per youth. It's the most distinctive pass on this list and the one with the clearest terms, one price for one park with the whole lineup spelled out.

The lineup runs from aircraft to fine art to model trains. It includes the San Diego Air and Space Museum, the Fleet Science Center, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the Museum of Us, The San Diego Museum of Art, the Timken Museum of Art, Mingei International Museum, MOPA@SDMA, ICA San Diego, the Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum, the San Diego Automotive Museum, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, the San Diego History Center, Centro Cultural de la Raza, the Veterans Museum at Balboa Park and the WorldBeat Center. One museum sits outside every Explorer pass: the Comic-Con Museum is sold separately.

Why seven days instead of one? The one-day Limited Pass covers any four of those museums for $66 per adult and $43 per youth. That's only $12 less than Parkwide, and Parkwide trades one marathon day for a week of coming back, maybe two museums in the morning and the rest of the park in the afternoon.

Plan around the museum calendar. On the schedules posted this summer, ICA San Diego and MOPA@SDMA open Thursday through Sunday, the Timken runs Wednesday through Sunday, the WorldBeat Center opens Friday through Sunday, and Centro Cultural de la Raza, Mingei, the History Center and the Model Railroad Museum close Mondays. Both are promotional rates dated through November 1, 2026. USS Midway Museum tickets are $39 per adult and $29 for kids 4 to 12 online, $2 less than at the door. Birch Aquarium at Scripps is $34.95 for adults and $29.95 for kids 3 to 12 online, with walk-up prices higher. Cabrillo National Monument charges $20 per car for seven days, $10 per person on foot or bike (capped at $20 for a group of up to four) and $15 per motorcycle, and kids under 16 get in free.

Buying direct ranks fourth because it hands you the math, and sale prices like these move. Add up your list at each checkout first, then hold that total up against any bundle. If the bundle doesn't clearly win, keep it simple.

Zoo or Safari Park? It's a common San Diego trip question, and the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park 2-Visit Pass, the parks' own two-visit ticket, answers it with "both, whenever you like." You get one visit to each park, or two visits to the same park, any day within one year of purchase.

The discount is built right in. The pass is $130 per adult, down from $156, and $120 per child, down from $136. A regular 1-Day Pass Any Day runs $78 for adults and $68 for kids at either park, so the 2-Visit Pass saves $26 per adult and $16 per child over two separate days. On designated Value Days, when demand is lower, single-day tickets drop to $73 and $63, and even two adult Value Days add up to $146.

Both parks come with rides built into admission. A Zoo visit includes the Guided Bus Tour and the Skyfari Aerial Tram, and a Safari Park visit includes the Africa Tram, all subject to availability. The Zoo is in Balboa Park and the Safari Park is in Escondido, and the one-year window means the second visit can wait for a free weekend or your next trip.

It ranks fifth because it covers two parks and stops there, with nothing for museums or the waterfront. For a family that wants the Zoo and the Safari Park, though, it's the easy call, and that year-long window suits locals who host visitors.

Go City's standard All-Inclusive Pass is made for a busy day of city stops, and at $99 for one adult day it has the lowest starting price of any pass here. Go City counts 39 attractions, tours and activities on this tier, and the list is long and fun: the USS Midway Museum, Birch Aquarium, the Best of the Bay harbor tour and whale watching with City Cruises, the Old Town Trolley's two-day hop-on hop-off, Belmont Park's Ride & Play Pass, Petco Park Tours, a 90-minute La Jolla kayak rental, the One Way Coronado Ferry, the Museum of Illusions, the Whaley House Museum, and a long run of Balboa Park museums.

Read that lineup by name before you buy. This tier leaves out the San Diego Zoo, the Safari Park, SeaWorld San Diego, LEGOLAND California with SEA LIFE, and Knott's Berry Farm. Those five live on the Plus tier and Essentials, so if a Zoo day is the reason you're shopping, look one or two spots down.

Go City's own example shows how it can pay off. A one-day plan of USS Midway, a City Cruises harbor tour, Birch Aquarium and the San Diego Natural History Museum adds up to $140.61 at regular prices, against $99 for the pass. The three-day version runs $300.61 against $159. Days here are calendar days, so an early start gets the most from a one-day pass, and an unactivated pass can be canceled free within 90 days of purchase. All-Inclusive Pass Plus is Go City's answer to the parks the standard tier leaves out. One adult day is $149, $50 more than the standard tier, and that step up makes it the only all-you-can-fit Go City pass with the headline parks on it. Two- through seven-day versions exist, but their prices only appear once you choose a duration at checkout, so price the exact length of your trip.

The savings depend on packing a lot into each day. Map the park days first, then let Midway, the harbor cruise and the museums fill in around them. Kids' pricing sits close to adult pricing on this tier, so run the numbers for the whole family before you commit. Two small print notes: LEGOLAND and SEA LIFE count as one combined entry, and Knott's Soak City Water Park is a separate line from Knott's Berry Farm.

It ranks seventh behind the simpler bundles because the math asks a lot of your schedule. For a group that loves a full itinerary and wants a headline park in the mix, it's the most complete menu on this list.

Go City Essentials Pass is the slow-travel option. It's $149 for adults and $139 for kids, and you get one headline choice (the San Diego Zoo, the Safari Park, SeaWorld San Diego, LEGOLAND California with SEA LIFE, or Knott's Berry Farm) plus two more from a shorter list of 12 top attractions. You have 30 days from your first visit to use all three.

Thirty days is more than three times CityPASS's nine, and that changes who this pass is for. It suits a loose itinerary, a long stay, or a San Diegan hosting a rotation of visiting family over a few weeks: the Zoo with your parents one weekend, a bay cruise with your cousins a couple of weeks later.

Go City's own example for this tier pairs the Zoo with the Old Town Trolley hop-on hop-off and a Semi-Private Bay Cruise, which add up to $347 at adult walk-up prices, against $149 for the pass. That's the right way to use it: three bigger-ticket outings. At $149 for three choices, it needs all three to be gates you'd happily pay full price for, and that condition is what keeps it eighth on a list built around sure savings.
