Pelican Sportfishing
Pelican is the private-boat plan for a group that wants the captain's attention and the day shaped around six people instead of a whole rail of strangers. Its current trip page lists four-hour coastline charters from $975, with inshore targets including rockfish, scorpionfish, whitefish, bass, yellowtail, sheephead and barracuda; fish cleaning is included. Offshore targets stretch to bluefin, yellowfin, mahi mahi and marlin when the trip and conditions call for it. Split the fare across the group, tell the operator your experience level and let the captain set realistic expectations before departure. If the Coronado Islands are in play, handle every document early—passport, biosphere bracelet and Mexico fishing license per angler. When the boat turns toward Mission Bay again, the whole group will have a new story to tell.
