Two roads: Campo Road and Jamacha Road carry almost everything out here; the refuge trailhead turn is off Campo Road onto Millar Ranch Road, and the Rancho San Diego shops sit along Jamacha
Parking: The refuge lot on Millar Ranch Road holds about 40 vehicles and closes at 7 PM spring through fall, 5 PM in winter; the Par Four trailhead has no lot at all, so you park at the curb on a residential street and keep driveways clear
Carry water: There is no drinking water anywhere on refuge land, and no restroom either — fill up before you leave the car, and top off again before you start up Dictionary Hill
Don't miss: Take the right fork at the junction 1.1 miles into the Sweetwater River Trail; it drops you at a wooden footbridge over the river with shade on it
